Alexandria Idol Contest 2009

The date for our 6th Annual Alexandria Idol Contest was

Saturday August 22, 2009.

The stage was set and the crowds were coming.....

to the Viking Plaza Mall in Alexandria MN.

The Alexandria Idol Contest is put on by the Viking Plaza Mall &

KCLD from St. Cloud MN.

This was our best year ever.....

One of the reasons for that was we had two new

fabulous judges for this years contest:

Dave Christman an Actor, Singer, Producer and Director

&

Amy Dahl a graduate of Alexandria High School who is

attending college in South Dakota with a major in Music.

These two judges were able to give great feedback to all of the contestants

with detail of the performances!

Derek Lee from KCLD was the host for our contest!

The contest was filled with wonderfully talented kids,

below are some pictures and info about a few of them......

The contest is for grade k - 12 and this year our contestants were

from age 10 - 18. Pictured above is Kallan who is 10 years old sang "No Boundries"

for her first song which was good enough to get her into the second round!

She truly has some talent going on!

Joey was the only boy in this years competition!

He sang "Don't Stop Believing" for his first song.

He is 13 years old and blew us away......

he made it into the 2nd and 3rd round of the contest!

We had several contestants return this year from our 2008 contest,

Audra was one of them....she took 2nd place in last years competition.

At 17 her voice is magical.....

For Amanda's first song she sang "Hear the Bells" which

was enchanting. She had the total package with her

singing and performance!

Nicole's first song was "Before He Cheats" and she belted it out

and blew us away!

The contest was narrowed down from 19 contestants to

8 for the second round.

It was hard for the judges as there were

so many talented kids in the contest!

Then it was narrowed down even further.......

to 5 for the 3rd round.

Here is a picture of the top three from left to right:

Amanda 15 years old took 2nd place, she sang:

"Hear the Bells", "MamaMia" and "Fine Fine Line"

Nicole 18 years old took 1st place, she sang:

"Before He Cheats", "Love Story" & " This Love"

Audra 17 years old too 3rd place, she sang:

"I Turn to You", "My Song" & "Trouble with Love"

I will be posting some video later this week of some of the performances

Alexandria Idol Contest.
